Burress Expects Contract Resolution Before Camp
New York wide receiver Plaxico Burress reportedly expects a contract resolution before training camp, according to ESPN.com.
The Giants will open camp on July 25 at the University of Albany.
"Honestly, I think my situation is going to be rectified before training camp," Burress told a Philadelphia radio station. "I'm not going to worry about it, but I did state that I was unhappy with my current situation with my contract. It'll be worked out."
He has three years remaining his six-year, $25 million deal. He will earn $3.25 million this year, $3.5 million in 2009 and $3.75 million in 2010.
Looking For New Deal, Packers' Grant Watches Minicamp
Green Bay running back Ryan Grant is looking for a new contract from the team and has continued to sit out this week's mandatory minicamp, according to The Associated Press.
"I want to let it be known that I'm a part of this team, and I want to be one of the leaders," Grant said Tuesday. "I want to do everything possible. The business aspect doesn't allow me to practice, but everything I can do, I'm definitely doing."
Grant was in uniform Tuesday morning, hitting a blocking sled at the Packers' indoor practice facility while his teammates ran plays.
Haynesworth?s Agent: Long-Term Deal Unlikely
The agent for Titans' defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth doesn't think a long-term deal is likely, according to The Tennessean.
"There has been no significant movement from the Titans on a long term deal since prior to the Combine in February and I don?t think this will change before July 15th," agent Chad Speck said in an e-mail.
The Titans declined comment on Tuesday.
Charles Rogers Works Out For Vikings
Former Detroit Lions' wide receiver Charles Rogers has worked out for the Vikings recently and appears healthy, according to The Saginaw News.
"He's had a couple workouts with some teams and has a workout with the Minnesota Vikings," former Coach Don Durrett said. "He's getting caught up (with playing in the NFL again). I tell him to play where he can play and enjoy it. People get caught up on where the best spot for him is."
"When I know, you guys will be the first to know," Rogers told The Saginaw News. "That's all I'm saying right now."
LB Colvin To Sign With Texans
Free agent linebacker Rosevelt Colvin said Monday he?s set to sign with the Texans, as reported by the Associated Press.
Colvin, who won two Super Bowls with the Patriots, told Houston television station KRIV that final contract details were being worked out.
Tampa Bay Not Considering Benson
The Buccaneers could be in need of help at running back, but they are not considering recently-released Cedric Benson, according to The Tampa Tribune.
Benson was released by the Bears last week, but according to team officials, the Buccaneers never entertained the idea of making a waiver claim on him.
Rams Obtain Rights To Gradkowski
The Rams obtained the rights to former Buccaneers' quarterback Brad Gradkowski on Friday after claiming him off waivers, according to The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
He is expected to begin as the team's No. 3 quarterback behind Marc Bulger and Trent Green.
Texans Interested In Colvin
The Texans are interested in linebacker Rosevelt Colvin, according to a report in The Houston Chronicle.
The former New England defender visited the team on Wednesday, even taking a physical while in Houston.
"We know he can rush the passer," Texans' Coach Gary Kubiak said. "He brings a lot of maturity to your team from a standpoint that he's been on some great football teams and won a lot of games in this league, a very smart player who has played in a lot of places. I think he would bring some veteran leadership and accountability to our team."
Browns In No Rush To Extend Winslow
The Browns are in no rush to extend the current contract of tight end Kellen Winslow, according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer.
"We don't have a lot of wiggle room right now at this particular time," Browns' General Manager Phil Savage said Tuesday night. "Only time will tell if it goes one direction or the other, but I think we've let it be known kind of where we are."
The team expects Winslow to show up for minicamp next week. "Of course, it's a mandatory camp, so the expectation is he'll be here," Savage said.
Winslow's deal has three years remaining at $4 million to $5 million per season. The reference point for Winslow's camp is believed to be the 6-year, $42 million deal signed recently by tight end Dallas Clark.
Law To Cleveland Rumors Won't Go Away
Rumors of cornerback Ty Law signing a deal with the Cleveland Browns will simply not go away, according to The Dayton Daily News.
The Browns have added a few defensive pieces recently but are still in need of a starting-caliber cornerback.
Rumors around the league claim that Law is asking for a little too much in terms of money, and the Browns might be willing to add him to their roster if he lowers his price.
